Zoiper

  • Download Zoiper for PC
  • Enter the Zoiper app
  • Select settings
  • Select create new account
  • Select the account type SIP

Enter the following fields:

  • User/user@host: username@realm (note the username and realm will need to be advised by Conversant.)
  • Password: your password as advised by Conversant
  • Domain/Outbound proxy: your Conversant proxy as advised by Conversant
  • Click the next button

  • Click next again
  • This will report as registering and then say "Your account has been added to account list" if successful

Microsip

MicroSIP is a softphone application for your computer which can be used to connect with C-Lite 2.0.

To set-up this softphone, create a device on your Conversant account and register as below:

Under the menu option, select add account and enter details as below:

  • SIP Server: sip.conversant.co.nz
  • SIP proxy: sip.conversant.co.nz;hide
  • User: Username as per C-Lite 2.0
  • Domain: Realm as per C-Lite 2.0
  • Password: Password as per C-Lite 2.0
  • Transport: TCP
  • Published presence: tick
  • ICE: tick

Under the menu section, you will also need to update settings to be as below:

Telephone.app (MAC Only)

Telephone is a softphone application for your computer which can be used to connect with C-Lite 2.0.

To set-up this softphone, download the program here and create a device on your Conversant account and register as below:

Under the Account Information option, select use this account and enter details as below:

  • Description: Descriptive name
  • Full Name: Descriptive name
  • Domain: Realm as per C-Lite 2.0
  • User Name: Username as per C-Lite 2.0
  • Password: Password as per C-Lite 2.0

Under the advanced section, ensure 'Connect using proxy' is ticked and enter

  • Server: PROXY;hide

Move back to the Account Information and the device should now register with Conversant.

Install X-Lite


Microsoft Windows

  • Exit any software applications that use sound such as CD and media players.
  • Run the setup executable file.
  • Follow the prompts offered by the install wizard. Note: You must accept the license agreement to install X-Lite.
  • Select Launch X-Lite at the final step of the wizard to start using the softphone.
  • Click Finish to complete the installation.
  • You may need to restart Windows in order to use X-Lite.

Apple Mac

  • The download file is an internet-enabled disk image; therefore most browsers should mount it automatically. However, if this is not the case, locate the .dmg file after download and double-click on it.
  • Read the license agreement and click "Agree" to proceed. Note that you must agree to the terms of the license agreement to install X-Lite for Macintosh.
  • Simply drag the application icon to the folder in which you wish to install X-Lite. This will normally be your Applications folder. If you do not have permission to install to the Applications folder you will most likely want to install to your home folder instead.

Running X-Lite


Microsoft Windows

  • Click the Start button.
  • Select Programs.
  • Select the folder labeled X-Lite (or whatever you choose as the Start Menu Folder during the installation)
  • Select X-Lite

Apple Mac

  • Open the folder where you installed X-Lite, usually in Drive/Applications.
  • Double-click the application icon.

X-Lite Audio

Since X-Lite is a software telephone application, you will require both speaker and microphone devices to make calls. Any of the following configurations are acceptable:

  • External speakers and microphone (requires a full-duplex sound adapter)
  • Dual-jack multimedia headset (requires a full-duplex sound adapter)
  • Built in microphone and speakers (requires a full-duplex sound adapter)
  • USB multimedia headset
  • USB phone

Setting up X-Lite


In order to use the Conversant service you have to configure X-Lite manually by following the steps below.

  • Start X-Lite. If this is the first time you have used X-Lite then the "Sip Accounts" screen will appear. Otherwise, click on the Menu button and choose "Softphone > Account Settings"
  • Enter the following fields:
    • Display Name: your name
    • User ID: your Conversant VoIP username
    • Authorization Username: your Conversant VoIP username
    • Domain: realm as advised by Conversant
    • Password: your Conversant VoIP password
    • Register with domain and receive incoming calls: Yes
    • Send outbound via: proxy as advised by Conversant
  • Click the OK button.
  • Click the Close button.
  • X-Lite should report "Discovering Network". If you have a firewall installed, ensure that you enable X-Lite to communicate with the network. When you have successfully registered, you will see "Ready" as the Call Status Message.

Calling with X-Lite


Making a call

  • Open X-Lite.
  • Allow it to detect your network environment, and login - this will take a few seconds – check the Status for "Account Enabled" which indicates that you are ready to make a call.
  • Enter the phone number, or SIP address using your keyboard, or with your mouse using the numeric keypad on X-Lite.
  • Click the green Call button.

Ending a call

  • To end a call, click the Hang up button. As with traditional telephony, a call is also brought to an end when the other party hangs up.

Answering a call

  • You need to have X-Lite running to answer an incoming call. X-Lite will ring like a traditional telephone. To answer the call, click the green Dial button.
